I Don't Know Who Needs to Hear This....

“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I am truly sorry if you were complimented for a changing body while you were in the midst of an eating disorder.”

Truly, I am sorry. This is one of the billion reasons why body talk is useless, at best, and exceptionally harmful, at worst.

This is about weight stigma.

This is about fat phobia.

This is about cultural elevation of being smaller. As though that is the most important thing you’re doing in the world.

This is why I struggle so much with the diagnosis of atypical anorexia.

This is what keeps people from seeking treatment.
